Music beats faster in the North

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7226771.stm

According to a survey done by Uncut magazine, the difference in BPM is as much as 110 between the north of Scotland and the south of England!

“Music bought and listened to in Scotland has an average speed of 190bpm, but only 80bpm in Cornwall.”

How? Surely for music in Scotland to have a ‘average’ speed of 190, some people must be buying music at around 300 bpm to counter the people buying James Blunt? Unless *everyone* in Scotland just listens to Gabba and Happy Hardcore – which I can’t believe given the success of Scottish acts on X-factor.

    Yeah the cunts
  • Either that or I'm simply aware of popular culture, and know that Scottish acts typically do well as the entire of Scotland votes for them. I can't help being a self-facilitating cultural node.
