Gnarls Barkley LP backwards

gnarls barkley

Want a free copy of the new Gnarls Barkley LP? No problem. Perfectly legit. Oh, one thing though. It’s all backwards.

Why would they do this? Well… apart from the publicity, I guess it presents a kind of puzzle which appeals to some. If I really wanted the album without paying for it, I could download it on a torrent I’m sure; I don’t really bother downloading torrents though. Here I have to go to the trouble of reversing the audio to make it listenable which should make it less attractive; however, because I’ve got the technology to easily reverse it, I’ve downloaded it. So even though it’s really more complicated for me to download it this way, because I feel like I’m playing a bit of a game with them, and interacting with it in some way, the actual listening of the album is almost of secondary importance.
It’s like there’s a club of people who can reverse the audio.

Having said that, maybe they just did it for the publicity – I haven’t actually reversed the audio yet, maybe it’ll just say “rob stinks of shit” all the way through.
