Okay doke, here’s something new for the New Year. There’s an email address hello@northerncomfort.co.uk that I’ve pretty much ignored since I set it up, but I checked it out the other day and there was quite a bit of stuff in there. Not all of it relevant to NC or its readers perhaps, but this looks like a good one, so I’ve essentially cut n pasted the press release. I’m creative like that. The site isn’t live just yet, it goes to the myspace page, but there’s a reasonable amount of stuff to check out on there.

Manchester music collective Mind On Fire launch www.mindonfire.co.uk, a web label with a string of FREE
live music events Thursday 22 – Saturday 24 January 2009.

Coming straight out of Manchester, Mind on Fire is an ever growing collective of creators and a platform for exciting, innovative music. It stands for strength through co-operation and celebrates the wave of positive new music in Manchester today.

Having established a loyal following through a diverse back catalogue of events, Mind On Fire are now launching a new website providing a home for forward-thinking Manchester music. Unrestrained by a particular genre, the artists featured stylistically straddle hip hop to alt. rock, jazz & funk to electronica. As long as it gets ears pricking up, it’s in.

The site will feature tracks from a wide variety of Mancunian musicians and producers, all available to download for FREE. Alternatively listeners can create a playlist that can stay open as they browse the web.

The website will launch with three nights of special FREE events featuring the cream of Mind On Fire’s roster of artists:

Thursday 22 January @ Deaf Institute – 9pm-2am
A live showcase of Mind on Fire artists, with a massive range of styles and some exclusive collaborations.

Friday night will be spent in Fallowfields favourite student boozer The Ram and Shackle. As well as a selection of Mind On Fire Djs they will be hosting a showcase of DJs from Manchester’s very own MINDSET RECORDINGS
