Al Kent one-off soul set at Northern Comfort

After the Mr Scruff vs Hewan Clarke back-to-back last month, here we go for the 12th NC, and the first of 2009!

Bringing in the New Year for us we’re very proud to present the one and only Mr Al Kent (BBE Records/Million Dollar Disco).

Al’s probably best known for his incredible disco collection and his amazing album ‘Better Days’ on BBE records where he meticulously put together an original disco album with a 20-piece live orchestra. For NC however he returns to his first love of soul music.

He’s played at Southport Soul Weekender, Respect’s Ete D’Amour, Soul City, Ultragroove, Bam Bam, Society, Legacy, Powder Room and Club Disco amongst many others. Expect the same high-quality, rare music that he’s known for at Million Dollar Disco, just in the back room of the Salutation with the emphasis on soul.

Along with Al we’ve got Shanky joining the residents Robd, Catcalledmorris and Sad Eagle for a cockle-warming night of musical jollity. As usual with us expect music from all corners of the record player, with the emphasis on quality.

The Salutation pub is a good old-fashioned boozer in the heart of Manchester – think of this as a back-to-mine with a mate with a massive record collection, who just happens to live in a pub.

NC vs. Al Kent (BBE/Million Dollar Disco) Sat 17th January, The Salutation Pub, Higher Chatham St, Manchester. FREE.
