NC vs Marc Rowlands

March sees us uphold the tradition of rooting out an anaemic, light-sensitive crate digger from a dusty record shop cellar and dragging them to a (thankfully darkened) pub back room where we make them play some of their ill gotten gains for our collective pleasure. This month’s guest earned his stripes deep beneath Oldham street, where he spent some 15 years trawling through vintage vinyl at some of the Northern Quarter’s finer second-hand emporiums. Armed with knowledge, records and excellent night-vision he soon found his way behind the decks at nights such as Homoelectric, Bugged Out and Electric Chair.

Since stepping away from the ‘dance’ scene to express his wider love of music, writing about all aspects of local music for publications such as City Life and the Guardian Guide, he’s been an infrequent visitor behind the decks – something we are only too happy to change! Marc’s tastes are many and varied, spanning decades and styles and this promises (as ever) to be a real treat for the open-minded groover.

Support comes from Robd and honorary resident Treva Whateva, supplying friendly musical one-up-man-ship of the highest order.

Northern Comfort at The Salutation featuring Marc Rowlands. Saturday, March 14th, The Salutation, Lower Chatham Street, Manchester. 8pm – 1am, Free.
