WAR mix by Mr B

By robd • Category: Blog, mixes

At last, thanks to my having a busy week last week this post has been delayed, but I think you’ll agree it’s been worth the wait. Mr B – you’ll remember his previous Donald Byrd mix that he was kind enough to give us – has produced another ‘one-artist’ stormer, in the shape of this WAR compilation.

WAR

WAR

WAR were a Californian multi-ethnic funk band who had their heyday in the early 70’s. They’re still going now, but only with one member of the original group, keyboardist Lonnie Jordan. Possibly the most famous track is “Slipping into Darkness” – which you’ll find on the mix.

Get on the download and let us know what you think. All that way through, and not one ‘WAR, GOOD GOD, WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR’ joke. Well done me.

Here’s some words from Mr B to introduce the mix, along with the tracklisting.

Intro
All Day Music
Peace Sign
Gun
Slipping Into Darkness
Beautiful New Born Child
Ballero
Homeless Hero
Thats What Love Will Do
Get Down

Pour yourself a jug of wine, light a candle, kick back and relax and listen to the sounds of a group on fire. The issues War sung about 30 years ago are just as pertinent today, if not more so. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I have done over the years. Throw a peace sign in the air, small actions have great concequences.
