Salford City Radio – keeping it local
Morning – nice weekend?
Catching up on some things here, starting with a couple of recommendations for your radio-listening pleasure from local station Salford City Radio – 94.4 FM. First up is DJ Bollard and Paul Hughes on Saturdays between 6 and 7pm. Described as “40 years of eclectic dance/club classics culled from all four corners of the record shop or yer own private night club in yer kitchen” it’s a well worth listen if you want perking up on a Saturday afternoon before getting ready to go out. I’ve had the pleasure of Djing with Paul and it’s a blast; get on it.
Following on from Paul and Bollard on the Saturday is Ema Nosurak; “A cross-genre, listen & banter about new music for the dancefloor, plus things to do in Manchester’s club world” is how she describes her show – Ema’s a lovely lady and a great DJ with fantastic taste in records and she sounds good on the radio too, so there’s top couple of hours for you on Sat afternoon.
And so to Sunday night between 10 & 11pm, where Paul McKenna (no relation) hosts ‘The Soul Show’, which is also available as a podcast here. It’s a great late night show for the Sunday wind-down, and I’d heartily recommend you check it out.
There’s loads of good stuff on there, and it’s run by volunteers – always worth checking out things like this that are run by people purely for the love, rather than the money.
