Diggin in Berlin

Me and the missus went to Berlin last weekend – ace, if massive, city – you should go. You.

Anyway, I picked up some records when I was there; it’s hard not to, Berlin has got records like you wouldn’t believe. Everywhere you turn at the weekend there’s a flea market with a couple of dealers on with ace records in sleeves in mint condition.

So here we go. First, one I’ve been looking for ‘in the wild’ for ages, Ernie Hines – Electrified. You’ll know the track ‘Our Generation’, sampled on ‘Straighten it out’, but there are a couple of other crackers on there too.

Next, The Ponderosa Twins – 2+2+1. Obviously an attempt at making another Jacksons, the vocal (and production) here and there is a bit trebley, but there is some great soul music there too. Got this from Soultrade.

Next up, Gregory James Edition – Prophets of Soul. Some amazing stuff on this, starting with their version of ‘Aint no Sunshine’:

Gregory’s passed away, but leave a great legacy in this LP. Here’s some of his later stuff, and another of the LP.

Now to Andrew White; I’ve come across a couple of his LPs recently, one in Utrecht and this one. Unfortunately I can’t find anything on Youtube, so here’s a link to an online shop selling it.

And finally, a bit of Serge. Anna is the soundtrack to the film. You may know the Portishead track “Requiem for Anna”

Well that’s the nearest I can find on youtube – so until I can get round to sorting, that’s your lot! Enjoy, leave a comment if you like it!
