Northern Comfort v Firdos, Sat 8th August

August sees us paying a return visit to the resting home of veteran Mancunian DJ’s and liberating another of its residents for a nice evening of booze and tunes. We hope he’ll be happy in our homely pub back room as he’s used to slightly more cutting edge drinking establishments, being a bar DJ of high repute for the last 17 or so years. First resident at Atlas back in 1992? Check. Giving Scruff his first regular DJ work there? Check. First non-house resident at Dry Bar? Check. 6 years behind the decks for Po Na Na? Check. Barca? Check. Rocket Bar? Check. We could go on…

Instrumental in the nascent bar scene he’s gone on to atone for its meteoric rise and subsequent club-crowd-snaffling dominance by also providing the sounds at many a well-loved night including One Tree Island, All That Jazz, Mumbo Jumbo, the uber eclectic Firefly alongside Si Cheeba and the seminal Stereo sessions at South with Mike Chadwick and Dean Johnson (Expansion Records) – a night so up-our-street that if it were still going we probably wouldn’t bother.

Heritage by the pound and a record collection that makes him well worthy of kidnap means Firdos is the quintessential guest for Northern Comfort.
