Here’s an interesting email I got, for once, to something good. I’ll let you read the blurb, and here’s the original version, but scroll down and check out the Wretch version too.
In the summer of 2008, Mr Hudson (now working with Kanye West on new album ‘Straight No Chaser’) sent out a bulletin on his my space page urging all his fans to check out an electro troubadour from North London known simply as Rescue Cat.
One of the first to check out Rescue Cat’s unique blend of electro and acoustic music was grime artist Wretch 32. Wretch had just grabbed everyone’s attention by winning 1Xtra’s Annual Mixtape award for ‘Most Street Heat’ and also appeared on The Street’s Pranging Out’ remix video.
Wretch immediately connected with the song £10 Bag and decided that he wanted to collaborate with Rescue Cat. A session in the studio was quickly arranged and within hours, Wretch had recorded three verses for the remix. These verses capture the song’s themes of friendship and addiction perfectly. More recording sessions followed, as did a one-off live performance of the song at The Social in Little Portland St W1.
Since then, both artists have been busy. Wretch 32 has released ‘Wretchrospective’, appeared on Tim Westwood’s show and performed at Radio 1s Big Weekend. Rescue Cat has been in the studio recording tracks for release later this year and rehearsing a full band ready for some live shows this summer.
Expect to hear more collaboration from the two in the near future…

Any tune the name checks Jet Set Willy wins for me. Reminds me of some Crowhead’s stuff in a way. Anyway, have a listen to the Wretch version here.
