Toronto Digging, Early Kraftwerk Stuff & Edan

Good morning/afternoon/evening

So I have just come back from Toronto where I happened to find multiple digging spots. The city is a very cool and relaxed place and the record shops didn’t fail to live up to expectations.

I could list all that I bought and discovered but essentially I need to give a shout out to Aki @ Cosmos records. They have two shops on Queen Street (West) the first one is more hip hop and funk based whilst the second is more breaks, jazz and library based. Yes that’s two shops in the space of 200 yards or so. Both shops were rammed full of amazing stuff – One LP is particular has blown my mind to tiny pieces. Its by an artist called O C Smith – It is without doubt one of the most complete soul LP’s I have ever heard. Dig my friends and find it. I cant recall what the Lp is called but thats half the fun….find it yourself….innit?

Secondly, a friend has sent this to me. Its seems to be a very rare LP with Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter from Kraftwerk before they started their genius electronicness. That’s real word.

lastly, the genius madman of Edan is soon to launch his new project – Echo Party. It seems E was given access to the entire catalogue of labels such as Magic Records, Chocolate Star, P&P – So classic old school hip hip labels.

In true style it seems he has managed to turn a mix tape into an LP – with live guitar, drums, effects, moogs and anything else he could find. As a massive Edan fan I cant wait to hear it. Someone I know has heard it and described it as “amazing” – they wont send me a preview the wankers. More informations here….

Lates.
