Two Thousand and Ten

2010 eh? Phew. At least 20 years after the death of vinyl was announced!

Well, NC has been going for a while now; must be about 12 years since we first dj’ed as NC, and 10 since I set up this site. We’ve been doing the night at the Sally for the past 2 years, and had some great guests on, and this site has had some great mixes and contributions from all manner of lovely people. So, what to do next?

When I first started the site, it was just a way of highlighting things to my mates, without having to email them all with links every day. Since then, music blogs have increased considerably in terms of quantity and quality; it’s hard to ‘compete’ for clicks, and is getting harder and harder. Some people seem to have all the time in the world to write great pieces, record rare and long-lost albums for download, interview artists, etc, etc. I don’t have time for all that. Do I carry on with it, in a (comparatively) half-arsed form? Once one starts competing with some of the great blogs out there, it becomes a never-ending challenge. Like promoting a night; the NC night at the Sally has been tonnes of fun, but when I’m competing with countless other nights, and countless other Fbook invites, promos, etc – well, what do you do?

I’m not moaning – the fact that there is so much quality out there is fantastic. I’m just not sure what to do next.

Answers on a postcard please.

Keep on truckin dude. I'm always checking back here for mixes and edits. Some of the mixes on here have been a staple in the office over the last year or so. There's too much choice out there right now but things will shrink back down as people just stick to their trusted sources. Be the source Rob! Be the source!!
