Ninja Tune & Treva Whateva: Record Sleeve Design

Here’s a blast from the past; some design work I did for Ninja Tune recording artist Treva Whateva for his first two 12″ singles.

All the artwork is based on two different library records; one from De Wolfe and one from KPM, and all the discolourations, rips, folds, tea stains, etc, are all part of the image, even down to the print effect of the green on the KPM background (rather than just have a block of green and trust that the printer would have the same effect as the original, we used the original as a scanned basis for the colour block.)

Discolouration and record wear all part of the job.

‘Authentic’ tea stain, author’s own.

Was a fun one to work on – spending a LOT of time adding in the little details which probably nobody noticed other than me and Trev. I’ll dig out the LP cover I did after this one too later; that was also a nice one.
